Dr. Fuleihan will be missed as a great progressive thinker, a wonderful professor, a hero and a martyr who died serving his beloved country until his last breath. These are the qualities of men who make history and who will be missed but will never be forgotten. May God rest his soul in peace.

I would like to offer the deepest condolences of myself and my mother Souhaila for the loss of Dr. Fuleihan. I have admired and idolized his career, dedication and character for many many years, and my mother has maintained a close friendship in Washington with his uncle's family.
We are deeply sadenned by this tragedy and the family will be in our thoughts and prayers at this time and for a very long time to come. Basil's contributions to society, to Lebanon, and to the world will not be forgotten.

Amicalement

The last candle I lit for you was on Saturday evening.
It carried my hopes and prayers for you and for Lebanon. You will remain a symbol of all that is fine, and promising, and strong.
We drew such courage from your valiant struggle against the ugliness that damaged you. We will continue to draw courage from your example.
Continue to smile upon us.
Farewell, Bassel. This is a much lesser world without you.
