Basil remains stable and his condition unchanged one week after the incident. The support people are showing through comments on this site and at vigils and services around the world are a great comfort to everyone.
Beirut
People attending the prayer service for Basil at the Protestant church in downtown Beirut overflowed into the courtyard tonight. The service was followed by a vigil at the Gibran Khalil Gibran memorial garden.
One of the attendees wrote this about the service:
"The service at our Church for the recovery of Basil was, to say the least, dignified, solemn, and impressive. The Church was filled to overflowing, with a large crowd remaining outside, not even finding standing room inside. The selection of readings and prayers were very well-chosen. Rev. Badr led the Service, and was assisted by eight Reverends, each of whom read a passage or offered a prayer.
The march from the Church down to the gardens of the Jubran memorial, followed by the placing of the lighted candles, was also done in a very dignified manner.
Prayers were made for the recovery of Basil, for the late Hariri and those who died with him, for Peace, and for Lebanon".
Dear Basil,
It has been 10 years since I've first met you. I have never seen you but smiling, confident and strong. Please remain strong. Everyone in Lebanon is praying for you. Fight Fight Fight.

Dear Sir,
My husband and myself are both praying for your recovery and for God to give the strength to your family. I was a student at AUB and my school was very close to the school of business and I have never seen you but smiling. I'm really speechless & cant find the words to express the sorrow i felt on the 14th Feb 2005.This day was a valentine day where people celebrate this occassion & express their love for each other.
On this day,God chose to keep it a memorable day for Arab people generally & Lebanese specifically by taking a dear, great, loving person like Mr.Rafic Hariri & his friends(God bless them with your mercy)
I also want to say my praying for Mr.Basil Fuleihan, whom i dont know, but i knew from close people that he is honorable person & that is proven thru his career life.
All my prayers for him & for God to rescue him & keep him safe for us ,Lebanese people.
I LOVE THIS COUNTRY
I LOVE ITS PEOPLE
I LOVE U ALL UNITED
I'LL LOVE U MORE & RESPECT U MORE WHEN THINGS CLEAR OUT.
BEST WISHES FOR U BASIL

Dear Dr. Fuleihan,
This past week
For the first time in years I felt like praying
For the first time in years I felt like crying
For the first time in years I felt like expressing my love to the people that are dear to me
For the first time ever I felt like expressing my feelings on a public post
Please get well soon before I become too poetic.
